New at our Etsy shop: Mother’s Day Cards

mom_green_standing_311

We’ve just added some new Mother’s Day card to our Etsy shop. We’ve been having a lot of fun with hand-drawn type lately, and while there is a lot going on on the card, but we are pretty happy with the results.

Mother’s Day is May 10th (in the US and Canada, at least).

almost springtime!

Counting down the days to start smelling the flowers again (wow, I need to work on my comments…they are getting a bit dorky!).

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Lacey Papercuts

This cut paper typography by Hina Aoyama is some of the best art I’ve seen in a long time. I love how delicate and intricate her work is. To view more pieces, click here.

DIY: Glass Orb Cluster Light

This looks like a fun DIY project. Maybe one of these weekends, I might give it a go!

framed deer

Just at the start of our hike (Marin county) we noticed a bunch of deer prancing through the fields…this one just happened to fall between a frame of leaves.

Magnets For Cool Married People

Typically I try to avoid things that use the word “smooching,” but I had to make an exception for these magnets from Button Empire. I felt like they were made just for Owen and me—or maybe we’re not as unique as we’d like to think we are. Either way, I think they are fantastic. For those of you who aren’t married, they are available for boyfriends/girlfriends as well.

Sketch of the week: #1

Lab Partners!

Without a doubt one of my all-time favorite etsy shops is Lab Partners. Owen and I already have a bunch of their prints, but I am really excited about the one I purchased last night. It is an artist proof of one of the prints from their Hunt & Gather show.

I think they do really great work and love the ways that they use gocco. Plus, Owen and I are both total suckers for a visible halftone.

isn’t she lovely

blythe1

I know it’s not totally relevant, but I am in LOVE with the new red hoodie and skinny jeans that I just got from blythestation.

There’s something so hysterical about seeing the hoodie when it’s not being worn: the size of the hood relative to the torso just kills me. Thanks, Kiki!

More Than Meets the Eye

Let me be the first to say all of the experts are happy as can be that Obama’s the man for America. He’s got a lot of good ideas, and one of the best is getting the populace involved in making the changes he got elected to make. We’re excited, and hopeful.

And I think his graphics were (and are) top notch. He had a logo that will probably be studied by designers decades from now. He had the saavy to get capital-P Propaganda’s biggest fan Shep Fairey to do his iconic poster; hard to imagine another politician being half as astute about the importance of these things. When he launches a neo-WPA poster program, we’re all over it.

I say all of this not because we plan to make politics a big focus here at the experts agree — we don’t, fonts and photos and funnies are funner — but as preamble to posting this parody poster because it’s hilarious, even after seeing hundreds of parodies.

CHANGE INTO A TRUCK • Tim Doyle, for Nakatomi

Oh and we probably won’t do a lot of Transformers posts either…I think I was just feeling a little nervous about my first post as an expert.

Whoa horsey

Putnam Court

If you get a chance, check out Kirsten’s new etsy shop. So far, she is selling beautiful watercolor paintings of feathers and gocco-printed cards.

Handmade Nation

Last night we went to the SF Film Society’s screening of Handmade Nation by Faythe Levine — a documentary about the rise of the DIY/craft movement. I definitely recommend checking it out if it screens near you.

Another way to pass the time while keeping yourself sharp.

We have been OBSESSED with this game. Seriously. Dangerously so, in fact. I have to remind myself to take a breath when I get too into it.
